The Gallery - Love

There is nothing more loved in this house than Spencer bear.  Once upon a time, as you can see above,  he was fluffy, his fur was yellow, his eyes sparkled and he had smart clothes.  Now, after two years of hanging with Mr G he is worn, faded, he's lost a lot of weight, his eyes are glazed, quite frankly he is a shadow of his former self.

Here he is over the summer, on the right, drying after his weekly bath, next to emergency bear.

Spot the difference?  Newly purchased, emergency bear had taken a spin in the washing machine with Spencer bear, in a vain attempt to make him a passable substitute in well, bear emergencies.  Silly idea, even after several washes, the evil infiltrator was detected and thrown out the cot in seconds.  No, to make a real bear takes something very different... love.

All you need is love and I reckon it's going to be a love fest at The Gallery this week.

If I don't see you again before the big day, HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

I can empathise, Leo has his 'Raff' a cuddly orange giraffe. I brought a new one for raff emergencies (we've had a few - if Leo is ill Raff usually gets the full brunt of it!) "Fat Raff" as he is known, is just an horrible imposter, I have washed him repeatedly and even slept with him (!) in an attempt to make him more 'loved'

Great post!

Oh, that is so cute, funny how they just "know" about these things isn't it?

Love, love, love and Happy Christmas to you too! xxx

What a great post and I love those photos, especially the washing line one! My dad, who bought Burton's penguin, has an emergency one on standby should we ever need it, but I think Burton would know the difference as his Penguin is very weathered now after several bash in the washing machine!
Great post and merry Christmas xx

love that bear - love your emergency bear (and that it failed as a substitute).
We have an equally loved cuddly toy - I won't allow it out of the house - just in case. Luckily for me it has a very sleepy individual and we HAVE to leave it for long naps while we are out.

What a great photo of the 2 bears side by side.

We had to buy a replacement giraffe after a mishap. We didn't think our darling would notice this new one's eyes hadn't been sucked out. He did. Happily our original one turned up after a few days - phew.

"Smarter than the average bear." (Yogi bear's catchphrase - I think!)
Your son is nobody's fool.

Ha ha ha, what a brilliant (albeit unsuccessful) idea! x

There's something quite hilarious about that skinny, worn-out bear hanging on the line. Bless him.

I wanted my kids to have an attachment object like that, but it never really worked. The older one had a Buzz Lightyear soft sponge thing that he loved for a while, but today he offered him to the baby to distract him from eating the jigsaws. He'll sacrifice anything for those jigsaws!

So funny! We have a 6 year old rabbit Hobbs who is worn to almost nothing - we nearly lost him once and I felt like I'd lost one of the kids... and no - the substitute never made it into the bed either.

I LOVED hearing about Raff, Burton, giraffe Hobbs and everyone's emergency creatures.
Headhuntresss -they just 'know'!
Gemma I will be taking a leaf from your book. Kate one of the kids - so true - it's like having 2 extra passengers when we travel with the kids.
Mid 30s - did your child eat the eyes? ;)
Imperfect pages - that is seriously nice, but also very clever, sibling behaviour. I applaude!
Kath - spot on, love yogi!
Emma - glad you got the 'sleeping with' in, i tried that too.
