Why Do I Blog...on camera

I have been challenged to video blog.  I had a fabulous day out in London hosted by British Mummy Bloggers the week before last. I met lots of lovely bloggers and found out how American moms have harnessed the power of film.  Now it's our turn apparently.  Yes British Mummy Bloggers are embracing vlogging.  I think this is a really exciting development.

Or at least I did until I realised my laptop can't take the pace, that mini tripods are at best precarious and that looking vaguely respectable on camera is a real art. Here after more effort than you would imagine from watching this, is my first vlog.

I had lots of fun doing it although I think that will come across even more in the next one, I was slightly zapped of energy after an hour in hair and make up (joke), the technical hurdles and the fourth take.  Great relearning curve for me though and wow how the technology has moved on. If you want to get into vlogging, check out the vlogging group over at British Mummy Bloggers. Or do ask me, because in the words of that government recruitment campaign those who can teach, and all that.

Would you ever vlog?

You are so lovely. Thank you. It really made me think about why I blog, actually you made me realise deciding that was just as challenging as getting in front of the camera.

watched it again! 4th time I think. Each time I am struck by how eloquent you are and how brave to get in front of the camera.
So many true words spoken, so much am in agreement with. Great first vlog!

Thank you. Slight cheat in that I used to teach film making, but it's
five years since I attempted any editing.
So much fun and so many possibilities!

I really enjoyed this - it's the first vlog I've seen. Love the clips of your kids causing havoc.

And I refuse to believe you didn't spend an hour in hair and makeup as your skin is so flawless and your hair so shiny! Fab, look forward to seeing more! x

Thanks for being so supportive. You have such a way with words, I have
a very funny image in my mind of you vlogging. Bet you don't look
anything like that, but great description :)

Really enjoyed watching you, and loved the clips of your kids as well. You came across as natural and honest. It was lovely to meet you the other week, and I look forward to seeing more vlogs from you :)

Great to be able to 'see' you! Fab vlog, you're very brave. Love the snippets of your children and family life. You've got a lovely way about you and are really natural on screen. I think I would be a cross between a rabbit in headlights & a jerky claymation figure LOL. Massive well done for a fantastic first vlog xx

Thanks, I love nosying round other people's homes too, although the paper chucking bit was at my dad's.
It's funny what we deem brave isn't it? Your silent sunday was so brave. Bet you would be fab.

Thank you, it is a great way to 'meet' people, you're right. Pick away, would be a great way to share all the amazing things you get up to with your family :)

That was just brill! I love the little snippets of your home (looking at the background thinking "aha, I've got that picture frame!") and it's lovely to get a sense of what you're like in person. Really enjoyed it. (And I think this is a lot braver than my Silent Sunday - don't know if I could ever do this!) :)

Sometimes it's liberating to talk on camera!

Thank you, I think the gentle voice might be technical fatigue setting
in, next time I may be louder!
